Dialing in your biz dev strategy for 2024 with Lee McKnight Jr.

It’s no secret that 2023 has been a rough year for most agency owners. Between the elongated sales cycles, shrinking prospect budgets, and the need to re-evaluate some of our own expenses that have been piling up, many of you are feeling burnt out. […]

Research 2023

2023: Building Trust And Revenue With Existing Clients - How To Keep Them Spending With Your Agency In our 10th year conducting our annual Agency Edge study, we focused our attention on agency clients again. When we last checked in with this audience in 2021, we unlocked insights into what role agencies played in clients’ worlds as they tried to keep their heads above water during the COVID-19 pandemic, economic fluctuations, and supply chain and logistics challenges. This year, we decided to explore agency clients’ attitudes, perspectives, beliefs, challenges, and desires for agency relationships in the post-COVID world — to answer the following questions: When and why do agency clients spend more money with their current agency? How do clients describe their “best agency”? What do clients want their relationships with agencies to look like in 2023? How can agencies improve their approach to serve their clients better? AMI Preferred Partners

We get asked for recommendations every day.  Honestly -- that's a weighty request for us.  Who do we trust enough to actually give them our endorsement? Who do we know that will care for their agency client with the same commitment to excellence, the same compassionate heart, and the same smarts that we try to bring to our AMI offerings every day? The list is not long, frankly. But there's an even more elite subset to that list. These are the people we consider to be AMI's preferred partners.  Not only do we know them well, but they've been road-tested.  And we've done our due diligence. They have to have successfully served at least 10 AMI agencies and received a 4.8 out of 5 rating from those clients, based on conversations we conduct to validate our belief that they go above and beyond for their clients every day. Once they've earned that level of confidence and glowing endorsement -- we feel very proud to call them our go-to team. We're sure this list will grow over time, but for now -- it's a small but mighty list of companies/leaders who are as committed to helping agency owners as we are every day. In alpha order: Audience Audit/Susan Baier:  Audience Audit partners with agencies to do segmentation research on behalf of their clients or the agency itself. Agency owners say this about AA -- "Susan not only helped us define the research but thanks to her marketing mind, she had a ton of good ideas about how we could leverage the data to attract more right-fit clients." Key Leadership Network

“Executives are increasingly banding together in peer groups to learn from and support each other.” Wall Street Journal Most agency owners have a handful of employees who really help run the show. By title, you might call them a COO, CFO, Director of Account Service, Director of a key department or even Operations Manager. If you're into Traction by Gino Wickman, they're your Integrator. But whatever you call them -- they're invaluable and you have a vested interest in continuing to invest in their development, career growth and job satisfaction. That's why we created the Key Leadership Network. Much like our owner peer groups, these networks are made up of highly qualified key players in agencies all across North America. They meet with the same cohort of people every six months (October and April) in Denver to learn from each other, create connections they can lean on in between meetings and get personal mentorship from AMI team member, agency owner and grower of leaders -- Del Esparza. Why enroll your employee in a key leadership network? By having your key leader/s join a network, you get the best of both worlds. You get that outside perspective for your agency that you need but from someone who walks in your shoes every day. You also get an ongoing professional development program for your younger leaders. Each network has a mix of advertising agencies, PR firms, marketing shops, digital marketing, and design firms with the desire and drive to grow their business to the next level. Only one company from any specific geographic market or niche specialty is admitted to a network. This allows your key executive to confidentially collaborate to gain new perspectives and share [...]
