Strengthen your core and the core of your agency with Drew McLellan

[easy-social-share buttons=”facebook, twitter, google, linkedin, mail” counters=1 counter_pos=”topm” total_counter_pos=”leftbig” style=”icon_hover”] Maybe it’s my age, but there’s a lot more talk about the importance of strengthening my core, to improve balance and stability. The same is true for our agencies. Our reality is always a bit unstable and we often expend a lot of energy anticipating the next storm. But if your agency’s core is strong, you can rest a little easier, knowing you can weather whatever comes. Just like you have for years. We forget how much we’ve already accomplished and survived when we’re heads down all of the time. […]

A year of reflection and growth for agency leaders with John Jantsch

[easy-social-share buttons=”facebook, twitter, google, linkedin, mail” counters=1 counter_pos=”topm” total_counter_pos=”leftbig” style=”icon_hover”] There was a time when you spent most of your time learning your craft. Whether it was account service or art direction or biz dev – you had to develop the skills to do your job well. There’s no doubt that our world demands on-going education so we can continue to serve our clients. But at this point in your career, you have the luxury of focusing on something a bit deeper — developing yourself as a leader, professional, and human being. That’s why I love John Jantsch’s new book The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur so much. It invites us to do just that. […]

How agency owners can leverage a virtual assistant with Jess Tyson

[easy-social-share buttons=”facebook, twitter, google, linkedin, mail” counters=1 counter_pos=”topm” total_counter_pos=”leftbig” style=”icon_hover”] Have you ever wished that you had a team member dedicated to helping manage your day, your email, your commitments, and your goals? When we have someone in the office, they often get usurped by other teams or the crisis of the day. That’s one of the many advantages of working with a virtual assistant. Many agency owners are enjoying added productivity and peace of mind that comes with someone always having their back thanks to their VA! […]

The buying journey of your agency’s prospects with Robin Boehler

[easy-social-share buttons=”facebook, twitter, google, linkedin, mail” counters=1 counter_pos=”topm” total_counter_pos=”leftbig” style=”icon_hover”] Like every other consumer, your prospects go on a wild and winding journey as they consider whether or not they want to hire an agency and then go about finding that perfect partner. It’s amazing to me that many agencies teach their clients about buying journeys and yet don’t really understand what their prospects go through as they go to market. […]

Using AI to support your agency’s content strategy with Jeff Coyle

[easy-social-share buttons=”facebook, twitter, google, linkedin, mail” counters=1 counter_pos=”topm” total_counter_pos=”leftbig” style=”icon_hover”] There are very few agencies today who aren’t trying to solve the content challenge. The content creation process is complicated and it’s often difficult to demonstrate the ROI to clients so they will pay you what it takes to actually create something worthwhile. Clients want high performing content but aren’t excited about paying for it. And it can be tough for us to document and demonstrate what’s working and what isn’t. […]

Why public speaking skills matter to agency owners with Michael Port

[easy-social-share buttons=”facebook, twitter, google, linkedin, mail” counters=1 counter_pos=”topm” total_counter_pos=”leftbig” style=”icon_hover”] You are agency owners, not career keynote speakers. But that does not mean you don’t earn your living as a presenter. You present every day of your professional lives. You hold one-on-one meetings in your office and lead all-agency meetings. Some of you are speaking at conferences and tradeshows as well. […]

If You Have Millennials In Your Agency, Follow These Three Tips

Millennials will soon take over as the leaders of the workforce, and we need to be ready for their preferences. They are used to more advanced technology than we had at their age, and their access to social media and other communication platforms during the Great Recession means they think of things like money and value in a much different way than generations before. My agency also recently surveyed 1,000 agency employees to learn more about this generation’s mindset. I draw upon my own experiences, our research, and other sources to help agency owners understand how to manage millennials. Create True Transparency: To millennials, real transparency means increased context fueled by the desire to engage and connect with those around you. So next time, tell your millennial employees what could be improved or how their efforts have helped the business grow. And don’t be afraid to be honest about why a competing agency might have won that valuable client (and what the team can do collectively to get better). Get to know your millennial team members as people, not just as employees. Ask about their interests outside of work, and inquire about their weekends on Monday mornings. These little connections can add up. Help Them See How They Fit Into Your Agency: Millennials have a lot of options in front of them, causing a struggle to make important decisions about their future, further leading to confusion about their identity and purpose. Social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter nurture this; younger generations always have someone to compare themselves too. Millennials are accused of being “job hoppers” because they always see greener grass on the other side. With all this in mind, leverage the compassionate side [...]
